Deerfield Beach, FL — The Oliver for Congress campaign announced the endorsement of Peace Action, an organization focused on eliminating nuclear weapons, cutting wasteful defense spending, and pushing for diplomatic solutions to global conflicts for a pro-peace U.S. foreign policy in the Democratic primary election for Florida’s 23rd congressional district.
“On behalf of Peace Action’s 200,000 supporters nationwide, the Peace Action board has voted to endorse Oliver Larkin because of his pro-peace stance on foreign policy issues,” Lilly Dragnev, National Engagement and Campaigns Director wrote in Peace Action’s endorsement.
Founded as SANE in 1957 in response to nuclear proliferation during the Cold War, Peace Action works with dozens of affiliates, chapters, and associated groups across the country, including in Florida’s 23rd district. In the U.S. House of Representatives, Peace Action has called on Congressional lawmakers to end U.S. complicity and support of the genocide in Gaza by cosponsoring H.R. 3565, the Block the Bombs Act sponsored by Rep. Delia Ramirez (IL-03), which Larkin has committed to cosponsoring.
“Peace Action is mobilizing their members nationwide for Peace, Justice, and Democracy—the very same ideals our campaign is putting forward to restore leadership to Florida’s 23rd district,” Larkin released in a statement. “The American people want to see our tax dollars invested in bringing down the cost of living and tackling the affordability crisis, not violating U.S. and international law. Our campaign is proud to add Peace Action to our campaign coalition to deliver real change in South Florida and Washington.”
Peace Action is the campaign’s fifth endorsement since Larkin announced his candidacy in July, and the first since the October 15 FEC fundraising reports where Larkin reported over $100,000 raised and nearly twice as many grassroots donors as Rep. Jared Moskowitz in the July-September fundraising period.
