Orlando, FL – The Orlando Democratic Socialists of America voted to endorse Oliver Larkin for Congress in Florida’s 23rd district by unanimous consent at their general body meeting on Sunday.

“Orlando DSA members are proud to endorse Oliver Larkin in Florida’s 23rd district in this effort to elect Florida’s first democratic socialist to Congress in state history,” said Jennifer Silveira, co-chair of the Orlando Democratic Socialists of America. “Oliver and our DSA comrades in South Florida are leading the electoral fight for working people across our state, and our members share their commitment to fight in solidarity for a Congress that serves the interests of the working class.”

“Our campaign is grateful for our Orlando DSA comrades’ support in this historic campaign for our state,” said Oliver Larkin. “From joining Orlando DSA members at the November Medicare for All National Strategy Conference in Rockledge to their general body meeting this weekend, we are building solidarity across our state for a Florida and a Congress that fights for working class Americans. Democratic socialists across Florida are united in the struggle against Zionist imperialism, ICE fascism, and the corporate capture of our politics. Workers deserve more—we can and must win Medicare for All, a $25 minimum wage, and universal economic policies to address the cost of living crisis. A better Florida, and a better world, is possible.”

Orlando DSA is the fourth chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America to endorse Larkin, following the Broward DSA, Palm Beach Treasure Coast DSA, and Miami DSA’s endorsements. Larkin has been a DSA member since 2020 and was a staffer for democratic socialist Senator Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign.
