DSA Congressional Candidate Oliver Larkin Surges, Raising $115,000 in One Week Following DSA Takedowns of Out of Touch Establishment Candidates, Announces Large Slate of Progressive Endorsements
Larkin’s Monday Night Fundraiser with Hasan Piker and Congressional Democratic Nominee Claire Valdez (NY-07) Raised Nearly $60,000, Highlighting Growing Momentum in National Progressive Wave
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — Today, Oliver Larkin, DSA endorsed candidate for Florida’s 25th Congressional District announced that he raised a campaign-high $115,000 in the week since NYC DSA Primary Victories—his highest single-week total as he takes on incumbent U.S. Rep. Jared Moskowitz in the upcoming August 18th Democratic primary. Larkin also hosted a virtual fundraiser on Monday featuring Hasan Piker, Claire Valdez, AFA President Sara Nelson, Jack Cocchiarella, Senator Nina Turner, PCCC co-founder Adam Green, Dream Defenders co-founder Phillip Agnew, and nearly a dozen other national and Florida-based progressive leaders, demonstrating the whole of the progressive movement consolidating around him as Larkin is poised to be the next DSA endorsed candidate to take out an AIPAC-funded and corporate-backed incumbent.
As Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) Congressional candidate wins across the country shake up Democratic primaries and elevate fellow progressives like Melat Kiros (CO-01) in Colorado last night, as well as Claire Valdez (NY-07) and Darializa Avila Chevalier (NY-13) in New York last week, Larkin’s FL-25 campaign is riding this national progressive wave and building incredible momentum here in South Florida.
New endorsements Larkin secured this past week include a wide range of labor unions and progressive advocacy groups across Florida and nationwide:
SEIU Florida Public Services Union – Union for over 20,000 workers in eight counties, 16 cities, and three school districts across Florida
DSA endorsed Larkin as its first Congressional candidate the group is backing in 2026, and this surge in fundraising and new endorsements highlights rapidly growing momentum for Larkin’s South Florida progressive campaign. Larkin would become the first DSA member of Congress from Florida if elected.
“All across the country Democratic Socialists are winning elections. Last night Melat Kiros won in Denver and now we are putting our full weight behind Oliver Larkin,” National DSA said. “We will show that Democratic Socialism is a message that can win everywhere including in South Florida.”
“South Floridians are fed up with ‘Ron DeSantis Democrat’ Jared Moskowitz, the first Democrat in Congress to join DOGE and the only Florida Democrat to vote for the Laken Riley Act, rated Florida’s least effective Democrat in Congress without ever holding a single public town hall. As voters across the country reject out of touch, AIPAC-funded incumbents, our primary challenge offers Florida voters a clear choice—a union organizer rejecting corporate PAC donations and fighting for Medicare for All, a $25 minimum wage, and universal childcare. These are the bold, life-changing policies people deserve, and I’ll do everything in my power to help deliver them,” said Oliver Larkin, candidate for Florida’s 25th Congressional District.
The new endorsements add to a growing coalition of labor, community, and progressive organizations backing Larkin's campaign. A full list of endorsements is available at oliverforcongress.com.
More About Oliver Larkin
Oliver is a Fort Lauderdale native and a decade-long progressive organizer, fighting for Medicare for All, a $25 minimum wage, the Green New Deal, universal childcare, free public college, paid family and medical leave, abolishing ICE, and an end to the US-funded genocide in Gaza. He rejects all corporate PAC money.
From leading a Bernie Sanders field office in 2016 to unionizing his workplace with the NewsGuild-CWA, Oliver took what he learned and put it to work in South Florida, organizing against luxury developers, fighting toxic landfill expansion, standing with LGBTQIA+ communities, and confronting groups like Moms for Liberty and the Proud Boys alongside families, educators, and students as an active member of Broward DSA.
