Deerfield Beach, FL – Oliver Larkin responded to Rep. Jared Moskowitz’s flip-flop on the House Iran War Powers Resolution after intense public backlash:
“After publicly calling this legislation the Ayatollah Protection Act and aligning himself with Marco Rubio, Tom Cotton, and Lindsey Graham before Donald Trump’s illegal military strikes, Jared Moskowitz changed his tune when U.S. service members started dying and public backlash to the war became so intense that he had to contradict himself out of selfish political self-interest,” Larkin said.
“While Rep. Moskowitz felt the pressure from our primary campaign, we shouldn’t have to threaten him with losing his job to stop him from giving Trump a blank check for war—and he still suggests he may commit U.S. taxpayer dollars to finance it. Let me be clear, a vote to fund the war is a vote to support the war. Our campaign is the sole anti-war voice in FL-23’s Democratic primary, and voters will make their choice known when they turn out to the polls on August 18th.”
Moskowitz has long supported a belligerent posture toward Iran, including supporting joint military exercises and weapons tests in September 2023. He has purchased Lockheed Martin stock on four occasions since 2024 and publicly supported Trump’s military strikes on Iran last year, including going on Fox News and vocally aligning with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and GOP Senators Lindsey Graham and Tom Cotton. He was previously 1 of just 2 Democrats to immediately oppose Reps. Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie’s resolution.
