Larkin Hosts Emergency Town Hall on Redistricting

Coral Springs, FL — Democratic candidate for Congress in Florida’s 23rd district, Oliver Larkin, hosted an emergency town hall Monday evening, May 4, in Coral Springs to address Florida Republicans’ newly approved congressional redistricting map and its impact on voters across South Florida.

The event, which was also livestreamed on Youtube, brought together residents from Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties for a direct conversation about how the new district lines will reshape representation and influence upcoming elections.

Larkin spoke with attendees about the implications of the map, including concerns around partisan gerrymandering, the fragmentation of communities, and the broader consequences for democratic participation. The town hall included a live Q&A where residents raised questions about how the changes would affect their districts and what options remain moving forward.

“This partisan Republican power grab violates Florida’s Constitution and the will of Florida voters expressed in the overwhelming support for the Fair Districts Amendment,” Larkin said. “Our community came together to say with one voice — these maps are wrong, and we must fundamentally reform our democracy.”

The town hall comes as Florida’s new congressional map faces growing scrutiny for its impact on communities of color and its potential to predetermine electoral outcomes in several districts across the state.

Larkin emphasized the importance of engaging voters directly and providing clear information as the redistricting process unfolds, and committed to continuing conversations with residents as the situation develops.

The full town hall is available via the campaign’s livestream for those who were unable to attend in person.
