Larkin Condemns Moskowitz Statements After Attack on Omar at Minnesota Town Hall

Deerfield Beach, FL — Oliver Larkin condemned Jared Moskowitz’s statements following recent escalation of state and political violence, including against Rep. Ilhan Omar:

“Donald Trump has incited his supporters against Ilhan Omar since the day she took office. When Jared Moskowitz arrived in Congress, he fell in line. He called Omar ‘rabid,’ said he ‘agreed with most criticisms of Omar,’ and has developed a disturbing pattern of singling out women and people of color among his Democratic colleagues,” said Larkin.

“He supported Marjorie Taylor Greene’s censure of Rashida Tlaib, threatened Cori Bush with removal from Congress, and censured Al Green for ‘decorum.’ He called Nina Turner an antisemite, endorsed Michael Rapaport’s vulgar comments toward Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and perpetuated anti-Asian stereotypes criticized by his own Korean American colleagues. His patronage appointments from Ron DeSantis, friendship with Matt Gaetz, and ingratiation with Donald Trump has come at the expense and safety of his colleagues and the American people—from Moskowitz’s vote to unleash ICE with the Laken Riley Act to fueling Islamophobia and racism as his colleagues become the latest targets of violence.”

Moskowitz focused his comments on ICE’s killing of Renée Good by mocking DHS Secretary Kristi Noem’s appearance—not the first time he has objectified women following actress Sydney Sweeney on International Women’s Day 2024. He has repeatedly turned criticisms of DHS and ICE toward FEMA, an agency Moskowitz was previously considered to lead for Trump.

Following a Customs and Border Protection officer killing Alex Pretti on Saturday, Moskowitz thanked Donald Trump for an emergency weather declaration, and after the attack on Omar last night, he complimented Trump’s management of Hurricane Michael disaster relief.

Larkin added, “As the target of a thwarted antisemitic violent plot, my opponent should know better. These reprehensible plots and attacks demand our solidarity and opposition to all forms of violence. If Rep. Moskowitz is more concerned with angling himself into consideration to run FEMA for Trump, he owes it to the people of our district to step aside. We need real leadership.”
