Fort Lauderdale, FL — Former U.S. Congressman Jamaal Bowman, the former New York educator and progressive leader who defeated a longtime incumbent in a nationally watched grassroots primary campaign, announced his endorsement of Oliver Larkin in Florida’s 25th Congressional District Democratic primary against incumbent Rep. Jared Moskowitz.
“People, from New York to Florida, are hungry for change,” Bowman said. “Oliver’s opponent has had his chance. Time and time again, Jared Moskowitz chose caution over courage, donors over constituents, and the status quo over the change our communities desperately need. Florida’s 25th district deserves a champion in Congress willing to meet the most pressing issues of our time with the bold solutions they demand — that leader is Oliver Larkin.”
Bowman represented New York’s 16th Congressional District and became one of the country’s leading progressive voices on public education, labor rights, healthcare, and U.S. foreign policy during his time in Congress.
“Rep. Bowman proved that grassroots campaigns can take on the political establishment and win,” Larkin said. “I’m honored to have his support as we build a movement in South Florida centered around working people, not corporate PACs and billionaire donors.”
Larkin, a former Bernie Sanders campaign staffer and union organizer, is running on Medicare for All, a $25 minimum wage, abolishing ICE, and ending U.S. miliary aid to Isreal amidst the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
