Beyond the Ballot Backs Oliver Larkin for Congress in Florida’s 23rd District

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA — Beyond the Ballot is proud to announce our endorsement of Oliver Larkin in the Democratic primary for Florida's 23rd Congressional District. At a moment when working people are seeking leaders who challenge corporate power and fight to deliver economic justice, Oliver represents our organization’s commitment to supporting and electing progressive leaders that our current moment demands.

Beyond the Ballot points to Oliver's campaign as part of a broader progressive movement rejecting the politics of half-measures and fighting to deliver Medicare for All, immigrant justice, including the abolition of ICE, strong labor rights, and an economy built around the dignity of working people rather than the power of corporate donors. As a Gen Z-led organization, Beyond the Ballot has increasingly focused its electoral work on supporting candidates who are prepared not only to campaign on change but to deliver it in office.

"Beyond the Ballot recognizes that democracy is not just about having the right to vote, it is about building a country where working-class people decide how society is run,” said Oliver Larkin. “I am proud to have the support of an organization whose members understand that we will only defeat the billionaire class by building a mass movement of workers. My campaign is about more than just me, it is about building a long term movement for justice."

Oliver's campaign is day versus night when in contrast with the politics of the past that has come to define Rep. Jared Moskowitz’s tenure in Washington. A politics where both foreign and corporate influence take priority over the needs of the hard-working people of South Florida. While entrenched liberal incumbents protect their insider relationships with wealthy donors and shady lobbyists, we believe that South Florida deserves a representative who answers to the public, not the powerful. He brings a decade of experience on the front lines of Big Tech accountability, data privacy, and democracy reform. Unlike his opponent, Oliver will stand with progressives in Congress against partisan far-right censures. He will defend immigrant and Latino communities from Trump and ICE’s state-sponsored kidnappings. He will protect IRS funding to hold billionaire and corporate tax cheats accountable. He will stand up for trans youth and their right to access healthcare.

“For too long, working people in South Florida have been asked to accept incremental change while establishment politicians work overtime to protect the very interests that created these crises in the first place,” said Victor Rivera, Executive Director at Beyond the Ballot. “People in this district and across the country are growing tired of politicians who talk about change during elections and then fall in line with the same interests that keep working families struggling. Oliver is the kind of leader who will show up and deliver for ordinary people long after the ballots are cast, and that’s exactly why Gen Z is enthusiastic about his candidacy.”

That’s why we’re planning to mobilize youth organizing infrastructure to connect both volunteers and grassroots supporters with opportunities to help power Oliver Larkin's people-driven campaign in Florida’s 23rd District.
